Today's Stampin' B's Challenge

Hi! Since today’s Stampin’ B’s Challenge was to use Red, White, Black and a moon on a card, I decided to make a Christmas scene….Besides, I KNOW who’s getting this card.
She’ll KNOW that this is the closest I’ll ever get to a Twilight card! LOL
I had LOTS of leftover scraps from making the first card, so when I saw the Limited Supply Challenge today I decided to CASE myself!

On both cards:
The tree was stamped in Noir. I off-stamped two more trees to make it look like a forest. Next, the deer was stamped in Noir OVER the tree. I punched a 1 ½” circle from a Post It and placed it over the tree and antlers. I sponged in Charcoal for the sky.

The deer was then stamped in Noir onto Ripened Tomato and cut out. I added Signo Pen highlights and sponged in L’Amoure Red

All papers, inks, embellishments and Flourishes images can be found at Mark’s Finest Papers.

RECIPE:
Stamps: Mark’s Finest Papers carries Flourishes images: Forest of Trees, Flourished Christmas
Paper: Mark’s Finest Papers: Speedy the Cat Black Linen, Ripened Tomato Linen, Snow Storm Smooth
Ink: Palette Inks: Noir, Charcoal, L’Amoure Red
Accessories: Mark’s Finest Papers: Ribbon, Half pearls
Tools: Spellbinders, MS punch

Have a Great day!

Today's Challenge...

Hi! This card was made for today’s Ways To Use It Challenge: Give Thanks.
I’m still working on my Christmas cards for this year. And, if you haven’t noticed, I’m using up ALL my scraps from ONE pad of Basic Grey’s Wassail that I purchased a few months ago. I’m also using the scraps from my scrap bin for EVERYTHING I’ve made in the last month! (Don’t you love it when you find something that you REALLY like, and that you can use it in so many different ways? Besides…I’m really CHEAP! LOL)
The background Musical Score was stamped in Burnt Umber. The Bloom was stamped in VersaMark and embossed in Silver. I sponged on L’Amoure Red, Toile Pink and Cognac to create depth. The berries were sponged with Raw Sienna.
I’m also using up the ribbon from my bin full of “Bows Gone Bad!” This ribbon is not a full ribbon. I just hid the cut parts behind the circle die cut and the layers!
Have a GREAT day!
Happy Stampin'!

Today's Challenge!

Hi! This card was made for today's Sketch Challenge.

I love this ornament, and I use it often. Why? Because, when I was VERY young, Big Grand-daddy had ornaments all over his tree that looked like this. I found out, MUCH later, that those ornaments were VERY old, and that I was the only person allowed to hang those ornaments other than my grandfather. Not even my grandmother was allowed to touch them!

My aunt told me that the ornaments had belonged to my great-grandmother, and that I looked a lot like her. (I don't think so...I really look like Big Grand-daddy's wife, my paternal grandmother, but who am I to argue?LOL)

The background was stamped with Musical Score in Burnt Umber. The Ornament was stamped in Burnt Umber, cut out, and sponged with Palette Toile Pink and then Moulin Rouge.

This fits the Red Divas Challenge.

All papers, dp, embellishments, inks and Flourishes images can be found at Mark's Finest Papers.

RECIPE:
Stamps: Mark's Finest Papers carries Flourishes images: Musical Score, All That Glitters, Flourished Christmas
Paper: Mark's Finest Papers: Classic Flax, Deepest Mahogany, Hazelnut Tan dp: Basic Grey Wassail
Ink: Palette Inks:Burnt Umber, Toile Pink, Moulin Rouge
Accessories: Mark's Finest Papers: half pearls, cording
Techniques: sponging

Today's Challenge...

Hi! This card was made for today's Color Combination Challenge: Red (Ripened Tomato!), Chocolate (Deepest Mahogany paper and Burnt Umber ink) and Artichoke (I used Landscape with a bit of Burnt Umber to darken it for the focal image).

I know that I've been very brief in my descriptions lately....Let me explain. I've got phenomena, again, (since the beginning of the month). I'm an asthmatic and the breathing difficulties are really taking a toll on me. I'm pretty much stuck on the couch trying to catch my breath 90% of the time. So, sitting here at my desk, stamping and then typing is very difficult. (I'm not looking for sympathy, just explaining why I haven't posted early, there aren't any tutorials, etc.)

The image was inked in Burnt Umber and then Landscape. This got a VERY dark brown/green close to Artichoke. However, I wasn't happy with just that, so I sponged the Landscape onto the edges of the oval. I finished off by sponging just a BIT of Burnt Umber around the edges.

Next, the Muscial Score was stamped onto Classic Flax in Burnt Umber.

The pinecone is a new charm I LOVE it! It's gold, not brass! YUM!

This fits the RedDivas Challenge, too!

Please visit my blog for additional info. All papers, embellishments, and Flourishes images can be found at Mark's Finest Papers.

RECIPE:

Today's Clean and Simple Card!

Hi! This card was made for today's Technique Lovers Challenge: Out of the Box. The technique is to use die cut machines or Coluzzles to cut out images and to leave part of the image whole and "out of the die cut."

I also used this Notebook as inspiration!

I have to admit this...I was going to sit this one out, but my friend, Kim (Luvs Flowers) said she didn't see my card in today's Technique challenge...So....HERE IT IS, KIM!!! LOL

I stamped the image in Noir and colored it with Copics. Next, I cut out the image's handle and cut with the diecut, leaving the handle OUT of the cut.

The background was stamped with Noir. This also fits the RedDivas Challenge.

Hi! This card was made for today’s Clean And Simple Challenge. Today’s Challenge was an inspiration challenge. I chose this wallet for inspiration.

I am STILL VERY behind on this year’s Christmas cards and really need to get moving. So when I saw this wallet…(okay, I OWN one of these!)LOL, I decided I was going to take the colors and the silver in the “turn lock” and use them in a Christmas Card.

The image was stamped in VersaMark onto Snow Storm Smooth and embossed in silver. It was cut out and Palette Cote d’Azure was sponged on. I worked VERY quickly, and rubbed the silver with a paper towel to buff off the ink. The sentiment was made the same way.

The background was dry embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.

All papers, and Flourishes images can be found at Mark’s Finest Papers.

Stamps:
Mark’s Finest Papers carries Flourishes images: Poinsettia and Boxwood

I LOVE this piece, and when I saw it, I KNEW this was the one I would use as inspiration. The images were stamped in VersaMark and embossed in copper. I colored them in with Copic Markers and cut them out.

Another Sneak Peek!!!! BLOG CANDY!!!

REMEMBER, the newest Flourishes images will be available TONIGHT at 11PM EST at Mark's Finest Papers!

This week’s Stampin’ B’s Challenge, to make anything but a card fell just in the right place so that I could share this Sneak Peek of Fancy Labels!

The cookie bag is a Sizzix die cut that you can find at Sizzix.com. It is OFTEN on sale, I think I paid under $20 for it, and I use it ALL the time! After the bag was cut out, I stamped the small leafy image in Burnt Umber over the “front” panel of the bag. Next, I used a Spellbinders Oval to cut out the front. This was REALLY easy! Nex, I used double sided tape to adhere food safe cellophane to the inside of the oval. I closed up the box and sponged the flap and front with Burnt Umber. This box holds 3 cookies the size of Chips Ahoy Oatmeal Raison Cookies…Hmmm….How would I KNOW that? heeheehee

The ovals are Spellbinders die cuts. One is cut down from a Label. I stamped the poinsettia images onto the ovals and colored them with Copic Markers.

I decided to use this image from The Holly and the Ivy and the sentiment from Christmas Bouquet.

The sentiment and image were stamped in Burnt Umber and colored with Copic Markers. Next, I used a Spellbinders die to cut out the oval and cut VERY carefully around the holly.

This card fits last week's Stampin' B's Challenge and the Red Divas Challenge.

SNEAK PEEK!!!! BLOG CANDY... and...today's challenge!

Hi! This card was made for today's Ways To Use It Challenge: A Faux Feel. Participants were to add elements that were FAUX texture.

I decided that Christmas Borders would be perfect for this technique, as I wanted an Olde World 'feel' with this set.

I sponged in Burnt Umber onto the focal points to create a look of texture. I also used designer paper that had deep colors with washed out areas. I sponged on more Burnt Umber on the papers to get a deeper variation of color.

The image was ink in VersaMark and inked in Burnt Umber and embossed in clear onto Wonderful Watercolor Paper. I colored in the images with an aqua painter and Palette re-inkers. Next, I punched out a MS snowflake and sponged on color for faux texture.

This also fits this week's Stampin' B's Challenge! and the RedDivas Challenge.

All papers, embellishments and Flourishes images will be available on Friday Evening at Mark's Finest Papers.

Another Christmas Card and our Siamese

Hi! This card was made for today's Color Combination Challenge: Burgandy, Vanilla (Cream), and Kraft (I used Desert Sand).

I have to admit that I almost sat this color challenge out. However, I remembered that I had some burgandy like dp, and could MAKE my own burgandy ink to sponge the image.
First, I wanted to "darken" the dp to make it closer to burgandy. I sponged Burnt Umber Palette ink all over the dp. This really made it darker. I sponged Cognac onto the striped dp to darken it.
The image was stamped in VersaMark and embossed in Copper. Next, I mad a MASK of the center and placed it over the berries. I sponged on Palette Claret for a red/burgandy/purple and then sponged in Burnt Umber and Cognac for a darker center. This really "looks" like burgandy.
Recipe:
Stamps: Mark's Finest Papers carries Flourishes images: Poinsettia and Boxwood
Paper: Mark's Finest Papers: Desert Sand, Cream, dp: Basic Grey's Wassail
Ink: Palette Inks: Cognac, Burnt Umber, Claret VersaMark
Accessories: Mark's Finest Papers: Sheer ribbon, Satin Ribbon, half pearls
Tools: Spellbinders, MS punch
Techniques: embossing, sponging
Markie is working on his BIG report for his Gifted Class this week. He decided upon writing the report on Siamese Cats...I wonder why??? Here he is holding YumYum, our Lilac Point Siamese. She's a real MARKIE cat. She has chosen him as HER BOY! And, frankly, it's fun to watch her interact with him.

Here's an earlier photo of her! WOW! Look at those eyes! They have faded, but her love for Markie has gotten much stronger. She "talks" to him!

Remember this guy??? Well, Koko has grown up to be a very loving cat. He sleeps on my pillow, and snuggles right up to me. Alas, my allergies are a WRECK, and I'm weezing all the time, but the love of this animal is worth it!

And, he loves Markie! He licked Markie right on the nose after this was taken!

Have a GREAT day!

Happy Stampin'!
